Kelly Gardner has been actively involved in tennis for the past 25 years. Tennis has played a vital role in her life and has been an important part for her entire family. Coach Gardner has coached high school tennis for 20 years. She has been a member of the USTA for 30 years and continues to play league team tennis. Throughout her tennis career, Coach Gardner has competed in state, regional and national competitions in mixed doubles, womans’ doubles and tri-level events. She has served in a variety of roles in the tennis community at both local and state levels. Coach Gardner was instrumental in organizing the Peach Classic Tournament and served as Alabama Tennis Association president for eight years. One particular rewarding achievement involved her starting a Youth After School program, with the help of the USTA, for underprivileged children that still exists today. As she begins her third year at the Ranch, Coach Gardner looks forward to continuing to share her passion for the sport of tennis. Coach Gardner is excited to have as her volunteer assistance, her son, Kent Gardner. Coach Kent is a certified USTPAP2 tennis professional. Kent played collegiate tennis in Mississippi and is currently teaching tennis in Sarasota, while working with Total Tennis. Tennis is truly a sport for Life, and Coach Gardner hopes to be on a court in her 80s!
